Colourful buildings, endless hammock salesman, fried plantains, home of rum & cigars. Oddly more like I would expect Cuba to be than anywhere else. The 6th largest city of Nicaragua perched on the edge of Lake Nicaragua and surrounded by smoking volcanoes, bubbling lava pits and jaguar lurking, sloth dangling, cloud forests. It felt so alive, so vibrant, so interesting – always music playing somewhere, markets overflowing with pineapples, gorgeous weather. ? ? Sadly Nicaragua has been through some difficult political times, and they've struggled for a while for tourism. ? ?
