Yams! Today I’d like to talk about yams. (For all non-Kiwis I’m referring to the red wrinkly vegetables here) . @scheercharlie is making us a delicious Sunday dinner tonight, and while at the grocery store today I was ecstatic to realise it’s finally here, I’m finally in NZ for yam season! . This is mostly exciting because this tiny vegetable is rarely heard of outside NZ, and to pretty much the rest of the world, a yam is a totally different vegetable. . One of these —> (similar to our white or golden kumura) so now I’m curious.. why did we name these yams? And what are they really called? Does anyone else eat them outside this country? . In any case, here’s my dinner tonight – rather excited for my first seasons (NZ)yam in many years. .
