Share this: Visiting the Casa do Alentejo (house of Alentejo) felt like stepping right into Morocco, but right in the heart of downtown Lisbon. ? ? This is intentional – Portugal is closer to North Africa than it is to most of Western Europe! ? ? A lot of Portuguese architecture, food & culture was heavily influenced by the presence of the Moors (the Muslim inhabitants of the Maghreb) between the 8th and the 14th centuries. ? ?
